Apple is planning to launch the next generation iPod touch in September

3G-Capable Apple iPod Touch in Development?
According to Dutch site AppleSpot.nl, Apple is planning to launch the next generation iPod touch in September along with a new iPhone and will provide 3G data connectivity. According to the report, to access GSM networks, the new iPod touch will rely on a SIM card

As iPhone, it will be serviced by traditional carriers in much similar way, although presumably with some sort of data-only plan. We are primarily sharing the report for discussion and interest because the claim is dubious one and there is no track record in AppleSpot.nl when it comes to rumors. Over several years, this topic of 3G capabilities for the iPod touch has arisen several times.

It is of great interest for those who would like an “always-on” data connection without the need for an expensive iPhone. While 3G-capable iPad models has been released by Apple that function in a very similar way and offer no contract data plans. Indeed there has been no reliable information that Apple is working on such capabilities for iPod touch.
