Apple Monopoly A6 Processor Away From Samsung

Apple recently conducted a visit to SPIL's assembly line, and both parties discussed opportunities for cooperation, the sources revealed. SPIL stands a chance of becoming the first packaging and testing service provider designated by Apple, cutting into the supply chain of the vendor's processor line, the sources said.

Apple is reportedly moving its chip production away from Samsung and looking to TSMC for foundry services and SPIL for back-end services, according to a DigiTimes report.
Apple's upcoming A6 processor, thought to be a quad-core design, is reportedly being trial manufactured by TSMC, with volume production scheduled for Q2 2011.
